Neighbor Says She Heard Abused Child Cry

By Robert Wilson

"To me it sounded like a hurtful cry."

Rachele Glasgow lives just below the apartment where the victim lives with his parents.

As a mother, something told her the infant's cry didn't sound right.

"To hear a baby scream like that, I guess I should have took a further step and maybe asked if everything was okay," said Rachele.

Monday, the father and suspect, made his first court appearance, charged with aggravated assault and cruelty to a minor.

Last Thursday, as the four-week-old was being treated for bleeding on the brain and other conditions consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome, one of the treating doctors is quoted in court documents saying, "Dad later went on to say that if any legal proceedings occur from this that they should be directed at him and not at mom. Dad said that he is responsible for everything, the good and the bad, and he is the one at home all the time."

Looking back, Rachele says she feels guilty and hopes the baby is okay.

"It is really tough on me. It hurts. Knowing that a little baby is hurt like that. It's awful," said Rachele.

The affidavit goes on to say that the suspect told investigators if they think he is responsible for the baby's injuries, he didn't want his wife prevented from seeing the child and he would return to india and never return to the United States.

Actually, Social Services DOES investigate every call they receive, and if you ever have any suspicion that something like this is happening in your building or neighborhood, use your resources and call the police or social services!! Better safe than sorry, you cant get in any trouble if you were wrong and nothing was happening. Atleast having the cops stop by might scare an abusive parent into knowing someones listening and will call on them. Anyway, thats just what i think.

My family called social services on my x sister in law atleast twice a week to tell them she was beating the kids. The neighbors called, the teachers called, and it took until my niece was fifteen before they finally did something about it. The new case worker said that their case was the biggest he he had ever seen in the state of south dakota, without investigation.Sad isn't it...the damage is already done, but all we could do is make sure they knew how much we love them and were tryin 2 help

The neighbor just said that. Obviously she knows now she should have called. Although, it probably wouldn't of made much difference. After being shaken like that I don't see a different outcome. I am praying for this little one and I hope to god it is okay. As for the dad I hope they give him the needle.

The neighbor should of been calling the police or social services with her suspicions everyone has the responsibility to help these defenseless little ones. I pray the baby will be ok.
