Immigration Raid At SD Dairy Farms

Action News has learned of a federal immigration raid this afternoon at multiple dairy operations in Veblen, South Dakota. The details continue to come into our newsroom and here's the latest.

27 people were arrested as the result of a three month investigation, which involves six law enforcement agencies, including federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). 13 of those arrested face identity theft charges and the other 14 are accused of being in the country illegally.

"This investigation began about three months ago when the Highway Patrol stopped a man in August," said ICE spokesperson Tim Counts. "He presented suspicious documents during a traffic stop. The patrol learned the man had been using an invalid social security number to register the vehicle he was driving and over the course of the three month investigation the patrol discovered a string of people either used invalid or even stolen social security numbers to register their vehicles."

Counts did not reveal the names of the specific dairy operations involved. He did tell Action News that the investigation is not over.

If the dairy employs illegals and are keeping it from the state, what else are they doing illegally? We haven't seen the last of this mess from 'The Ringleader'. How many lawsuits are out there? He will tear our town down before he is thru. Look at his past businesses, he leaves them and women in the dust!!!

FACT: In the last 22 years, over 26 million illegals, have been apprehended, while attempting to enter our country. THE PROBLEM IS: Less than 1, out of 4 illegals, were estimated to have been apprehended, while crossing the border, into our United States. Mind boggling, isn't it. According to the U.S. Immigration Service another 6 million illegals in this country are visa overstays. In the last 22 years, there have been another 4 million anchor babies born to illegals.

Mexicans in Veblen don't hurt a thing!! They work hard and don't bother anyone. There isn't a person around that couldn't get a job at the dairy if they wanted to. But they don't!! Thanks to the Mexicans we still have a town!!! People don't like it that way they should leave. We'll keep the mexicans anyday. Atleast they work!

The only good illegal alien and H-1B is a dead one. The sooner the 12 MIL illegal aliens and H-1B visa foreigners are deported the sooner the U.S. economy will get better.

Life in their home country usually sucks Bob, that's why they head North. You can't blame them for wanting a better life. Should they come here 'legally'? Maybe, but your ancestors DelewareBob didn't have visas either when they stole Deleware from the Iriquois and infected them with smallpox.

There is no question that this illegal immigration has caused more problems than anyone could have ever imagined. With the Arizona State Illegal Immigration Law upheld in the courts last month, there is no excuse for any State not to have a State law to get rid of the ILLEGAL ALIENS. To enter this Country is a PRIVILEGE. It is NOT a RIGHT! No ILLEGAL ALIEN has a right to be here. Clear enough?

These companies have to be hiding these employees from the State also by not reporting them as being hired or on paying in taxes. How can they get away this?
