By Associated Press

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - An Illinois man has received the Carnegie Medal for saving the life of a Sioux Falls truck driver.

Michael Zimmerman of Morton, Ill., rescued Paul McCollar from burning in an August 2007 accident in Williamsfield, Ill. McCollar
was trapped in his cab, which had turned onto its side. Zimmerman kicked a hole in the windshield, entered the cab, cut McCollar free and pulled him out just before the cab started burning.

The Carnegie Heroes Fund gave its fourth group of awards this year to 19 people who risked their lives to save others.
