Israel and Hamas are again trading airstrikes for rocket attacks after a brief pause in the fighting in Gaza today.

During the lull, Israel allowed in 80 trucks of supplies and fuel for Gaza's power plant, while medics tried to retrieve bodies.
But the death toll continued to rise. Medics say 29 Palestinians were killed, including at least 22 civilians. Among them was a
family of 4 killed in an airstrike on their car.

Meanwhile, a mass funeral was held in the Jebaliya refugee camp for 40 people killed yesterday by Israel mortar fire near a U.N.
school.

The Israeli army says it carried out 40 airstrikes today against smuggling tunnels on the Gaza-Egypt border. Ground troops
neutralized hundreds of explosive devices, including booby-trapped houses.

The fighting comes as the presidents of Egypt and France made a cease-fire proposal. Hamas is demanding any deal include the
opening of Gaza's blockaded border crossings. Israel wants guarantees that militant rocket fire ends and Hamas doesn't rearm.
An Israeli envoy is due in Cairo to discuss the proposal tomorrow.
