Open Meeting Complaint Lodged Against Davison Co. (AP)

The Davison County state's attorney in Mitchell is looking into an open meetings complaint brought by a radio news reporter.
 
J.P. Skelly of KORN-AM said the commission's Dec. 30 afternoon session amounted to an illegal special meeting since it was called without public notice.
 
The morning session was already adjourned and few people other than the commissioners knew of the reconvened session.  Outgoing Davison County Commission Chairman Dick Ziegler said the second meeting was needed to fix an incorrect motion before the end of the 2008 fiscal year.
 
Ziegler said it was held at the courthouse so it was open to the public and no new business was conducted.
 
The complaint was referred to State's Attorney Pat Smith for further investigation.
