Beating Investigation Continues in Sisseton

Authorities continue their investigation into the beating of a 13-year-old.

Law enforcement continues to investigate a crime scene in Sisseton where a 13-year-old was beaten so badly on Friday he remains in the hospital today.

"Crime in society is nothing new. Any type of violence is always a problem. We are taking all the necessary steps that we can to eliminate that problem," said Sisseton Police Chief Matthew Shess.

That's where the Boys and Girls Club hopes to play an important role. They try to make a difference by offering positive alternatives to keep kids off the streets and prevent something similar from happening.

"I think it's getting younger all the time too. It's a lot more violent and a lot younger," said Boys & Girls Club Coordinator Marsha Maxwell.

The new Chief of Police was on duty less than two days when he received a call about this incident. "It makes it tough coming in to a chief position and have a type of incident happen like this, but with the confidence in my officers and the staff here in Roberts County we were able to make the proper adjustments," said Chief Shess.

Three people are in custody in connection with the crime. The thirteen year old boy remains in critical condition in the hospital.

The names and ages of those arrested are not being released. The State Division of Criminal Investigation is handling the case.

Thank you for letting me post my comments don't know whom will see them on the severely beaten 13 yr old.the boy was my son whom was beaten so severely by five individuals whom ranged from 15-18 and they got away with it with probation changed nito's life forever nito has permanent brain damage.Thank you KSFY for listening.

The reason why the violence is getting worser there in that town is because the violence is not taught lessons when they are caught they are just released back out,even when they kill someone they are out so why should they be scared to commit a crime when justice will not be served. and the person whom commits such a gruesome crime gets away with it when they are caught and free to roam the free world while the parents suffer a loss, the justice system is a joke in that city.

Sorry will never be enough for what you have done to him. a very well child whom was bright and full of life now damaged forever because of your ignorance and cowardness. Took 5 people to try to kill a 13 year old boy and almost succeeded. cowards with no morals all you ever will be.you have to stand before the lord one day. Nito did not get justice from the courts but Nito will have justice in the name of the Lord.

did everyone forget about this child whom was beaten so severely, the violence in that town is getting worser and worser not going to get any better until everyone kills everyone to where there is no one left.
