Late this fall Avera McKennan Hospital unveiled their newly overhauled 4th floor of the hospital that now makes up the new Women's Center. We found one new mom who is sure sweet on the big suites.

On December 16th Jamie and Darren Newborg from Tea welcomed their 3rd beautiful child into this world.. Baby Kendall has two older brothers and all 3 were born at Avera McKennan Hospital, but Kendall is the only one who has bragging rights to the new Women's Center. Although that may not mean a lot to the seven pounder now, it sure means a lot to her momma.

Jamie says, "It's gorgeous. The size of the room really accommodates visitors so you don't feel as cramped. There are chairs available you can store in the closet, the rocker and pull out bed. It's all amazing. They really make you feel right at home."

There are 24 luxury suites in the new women's center unit that feature flat screen TV's, a big family size bed if you want to share, if not, there's pull out sleepers for dad too. The bathroom offers a whirlpool tub and you can leave the hairdryer at home.

Lori Popkes Assistant Vice President of Avera McKennan Women and Children's Services says, "It's the feeling of a hotel suite. We want the patient to feel like they're not in the hospital. We want them to have a homelike setting during one of life's most amazing times."

One of the perks of having a baby at Avera McKennan's New Women's Center is they built a spa right on the same floor so if you are a patient you get to chose one complimentary service, like a pedicure, or maybe your best friend can buy you something from the spa as an extra treat instead of balloons.

Jamie says, "Actually, I was in the spa earlier and it was so great that someone else could wash my hair. It felt great."

While mom gets her hair done or back rubbed, Dad can hang out in the "Dad's Den". A room with oversized furniture and a huge flat-screen TV. Nothing was overlooked on this floor especially not your stomachs. There is a family cafe (buffet) right across the hall.

Jamie laughs and says, "Oh the bed, I think the bed is the best part. It's huge. It's so comfortable. I feel right at home."

And that's exactly what Avera McKennan was going for. The comforts of home during a monumental life changing moment.
