Does your golf game suffer during the winter months? Now it won't have to. For die-hard golfers, winter is a tough time to be stuck indoors. But the newest marvel in the golf-training scene will hit Sioux Falls in the coming weeks. This technology allows golfers to fine-tune their game even when they can't get out on the links.
Using wireless technology and kinetic data, local golfers now have a unique tool to help them improve their game.
PGA Teaching Professional Todd Kolb says, "If we have someone that's really swinging well or playing well we can capture that exact motion. So, when they come back in a month or a couple of months later and they want to see 'where was I at when I was really playing well,' we can precisely pull up where they were at. Then they can train in those exact same positions."
The system has wireless sensors that sit on the golfer’s hips, shoulder and hands.
"From an instruction standpoint for the first time really now I can be quiet and let the student train with the system and be assured that what they're doing is correct" said Kolb.
The program enables golf professionals and students to view a real-time, 3-D graphical analysis of swing motion.
Golfer Tim Cristian says. "It's much more enjoyable because they're going to strengthen muscles that had weakness and also help me prevent me from hurting myself from the (incorrect) way I’ve been swinging."
The Kinetic Golf Performance Program is a partnership between the Avera Sports Institute and the Todd Kolb Golf Academy.
The program is interactive; if a person is not in the right position at any point during a swing, the animated body on the computer screen turns red until the person correctly adjusts their stance. Once adjusted, the model turns green.
