Red wine contains Resveratrol, which may slow the aging process.

You've probably heard that drinking a little red wine can be good for you.

Now, some intriguing new research from the University Of Wisconsin is zeroing- in on the key ingredient that makes red wine so beneficial.

And, soon you might be able to get it from popping a pill instead of a cork.

Scientists have long thought red wine might help slow the aging process-- because of a natural compound in it... called Resveratrol. But the question has always been: how much of it would it take? A group of scientists says: not as much as first thought. In wine bars they're already hearing about it. Nikos Antonakeas owns 'Morrell Wine Bar & Cafe'. "We heard about the red wine that prolongs your life. Which wine has it?"

The scientists have long been giving Resveratrol to mice. Look at the rodent on the right. He's running much faster. same age, but much more agile. He's the one on the Resveratrol. And those scientists are convinced-- we humans-- could see the same kind of anti-aging benefits. But here's the catch. How much Resveratrol were they giving those mice? The equivalent of what you'd find in 100 bottles of red wine... a day. But that's what's different with today's findings. The Wisconsin team gave their mice far less. And it still worked. So researchers now hope that we humans could benefit from much lower amounts. Richard Weindruch is the author of the Wisconsin study. "The precise number of glasses of wine or bottles of wine are difficult to predict."

Even so, some scientists are already popping corks. Wondering.. what if you could find a way to put Resveratrol in a pill? Harvard Doctor David Sinclair is trying to develop a way to do it. "I used to think it was probably 100 years in the future that we'd see these anti-aging drugs come around. Now, I'm optimistic that we'll see these within the next few years."

In the meantime, the study's authors say their findings show if you already love a glass of red wine, you have a new reason to toast.

If you are considering buying resveratrol the Consumer Lab report mentioned by Frank Hagan should be a good reference. Many of the brand, including Life Extension and Revatrol, failed the test. The brands that passed with the best potency and lowest prices were biotivia, transmax and bioforte. Avoid the fly by nighters that have cropped up recently to take advantage of this phenomena.

Resveratrol can help you to lead a long and healthy life so says Dr. Oz. Resveratrol Supplements can help you control your weight naturally by increasing energy, reducing cravings, and limiting your appetite. According to Wikipedia, Consumer Lab, an independent dietary supplement and over the counter products evaluation organization, published a report on 13 November 2007 on the popular resveratrol supplements.
