Flu risk closes Mitchell nursing home to visitors

The Avera Brady Long Term Care Facility is turning visitors away to protect its residents from influenza.

Avera Brady Health and Rehab Administrator Veronnica Smith said several residents have flu-like symptoms and the facility closed its doors right away as a precaution.

She said the threat of stomach flu in nursing homes and other such living centers is high.

Notices were posted on the doors stating no visitors are permitted and the community will be told when the ban is lifted.
