Iowa Teen Arrested on Terrorism Charge

By Ellen Serr

A 14-year-old Everly, Iowa teenager was arrested this morning after authorities received information that he may be bringing a gun to school.  According to the Clay County Iowa Sheriff's office, they responded to a 911 call at the Clay Central/Everly High School in Everly this morning.  The school had heard that a student might be bringing a gun to school that day.

The Sheriff's office and school officials initiated school emergency plans and locked down the school.  Deputies were posted at the doors and the student in question was taken into custody without incident.  No weapons were located on the student.

The 14-year-old male was taken to the Clay County Jail, where he was charged with threat of terrorism, a class D felony, which is punishable by up to five years.  He was later taken to the Youth Emergency Services center in Cherokee.

The case is still under investigation.

Also on Wednesday, the Osceola county Sheriff's office arrested 45-year-old Joseph Bradfield of Ashton, Iowa on a warrant for carrying weapons on school property, which is also a class D felony.  Those charges stem from a September 28th incident where the Bradford allegedly had a loaded handgun in his vehicle on school property.  He's currently being held in the Osceola County Jail on a $5,000. bond.
