Lawsuit Filed Over Fatal Fire

By Associated Press

The father of 2 children who perished in a 2005 foster-home fire at Waubay is suing the Sisseton-Wahpeton American Indian tribe.

Greg Lewandowski alleges that the woman who ran the foster home
had more children than her license allowed.

He also claims that the children were sleeping too close to a
propane heater that did not have a protective cover.

Dying in the fire were 7-year-old Tiffany Lewandowski and
4-year-old Travis Lewandowski.

Their father is seeking $5 million in the federal court lawsuit
against the tribe and its insurance companies.

Why were the kids there in the first place? If he cared about his kids, why were they not with dad?

o I'm pretty sure he can't sue the tribe over this, The foster home was not a tribal entity, The state was funding the home to. Why don't they go after the state?
