Moms across Sioux Falls came together on Wednesday to help the family of baby Henry Johnson. He was allegedly assaulted by his Sioux Falls daycare provider.

It started as a simple gesture. A few moms thought it would be nice to organize a bake sale to help the Johnson family, but it continued to grow.

More than 40 moms agreed to donate food, but dozens more showed up with their arms full. Others were there to buy the food even before the bake sale began.

One hundred percent of the proceeds are going to the Johnson family.

The overwhelming community support took organizers by surprise.

"We just wanted to help in just a small way and I'm just blown away with how big this got. People are walking out of here with arms full or stuff that they waited in line for, so I'm just thrilled," said Carrie Williams, the bake sale organizer. 

Local businesses are also donating money. Sioux Falls Ford is matching a $500 donation and Thrivent is matching up to $1,500. Wednesday's benefit raised over $7,000 for the Johnson family.
