Man Stranded In Snowstorm

By Associated Press

A man from Lebanon in north central South Dakota is hospitalized after spending part of the night outdoors in a snowstorm.

Authorities say two men in their late 40s decided to stay in their vehicle after they got stuck in the snow south and east of Onida. The driver fell asleep. When he awoke, the other man was gone.

The driver walked to a rural residence and a search began for the missing man, who was found stuck to a barbed wire fence. It's not clear how long he was outside.

Hughes County Sheriff Mike Liedholt says the incident points out the wisdom of staying in a stranded vehicle during a storm.
