Sioux Falls Mayor Dave Munson says the city is growing by leaps and bounds, but the crime rate is not.

Thursday in his annual State of the City address, Mayor Munson applauded the Police Department's efforts to keep citizens safe.

"Even as the population grows Sioux Falls is responding in ways that keep our citizens as safe as ever," he said.

Mayor Munson said the number of police calls did increase in 2007, but the number of murders, rapes, and assaults were down.
