By Associated Press

A Sisseton man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter for the death of his 6-week-old son.  Nicholas Eastman Jr. died by asphyxiation on March 15, and prosecutors say his fathers negligence is to blame.

Additional details about the death were not released. Nicholas Eastman Sr. was indicted in federal court on both the manslaughter charge and abuse of a minor.

I would just like to say how sorry I am to the parents of both the children. Unless you were there when it happened and are a DCI Investigator I guess you can't judge anyone. I saw the mother's of these children bury their babies, And if you don't have compassion at a time like this your a pretty heartless person and always remember you will stand before the Man like anyone else.

In an event such as this, nobody can explain why things happen. What we can do is pray for the family and not cast judgement, that is not our place in life. Native American families have always respected their children that are given to us by the creator. If he so chooses he can take them when needed. It wasn't time for this baby to be here. The family will grieve, but the infant is in a better place. I am including them in my daily prayers.

Things happen for a reason? Theres a good reason for killing a baby if he did, and investagation seems to be going that way, I don't think so. There is no good reason for such a horrendous crime!!!

How about some respect for the mourning mothers of these two babies???

People need to have respect for the families, no matter how the children died. Yeah, some things shouldn't have happened but everything happens for a reason, and being a small community we all just need to be there for one another. And Sisseton isn't a bad community,we just need to start talking about all the good things instead only talking about the bad.
