Power Outage Affects Over 2,500

By KSFY Staff

The power is finally back on for 2,574 residents and businesses in Sioux Falls after a short power outage Thursday night. Jim Clark from Xcel Energy tells us the outage started around 6:15pm and covered a large part of southwest Sioux Falls.

Businesses were forced to close, including the Carmike Theater who had to refund tickets. The Gateway Lounge had to lock their doors during the outage.

Power was restored shortly before 8:00. Xcel Energy says the outage occurred when an underground cable failed, but the cause is not clear.
