A Worthing, South Dakota man is free tonight after being indicted by a federal grand jury on criminal sex abuse charges involving a child. Worthing is 13 miles south of Sioux Falls. According to the federal indictment the defendant, Ejay Gould, who is a long-haul trucker, was transporting the victim across state lines to have sex.

Federal authorities say the crimes happened between August of 2004 and July of last year. Counts 1 though 4 charge Gould with transporting the victim between South Dakota and Texas, Idaho and Wyoming for the purpose of illicit sexual contact. The fifth count charges that, in Lincoln County, Gould produced child pornography.

A woman who lives near Gould but didn't want to be identified, figured something was wrong. "All the cops started coming over. It was like for a whole week straight they kept visiting over there. Then it was towards the end that they confiscated the semi." The neighbor figured it was drugs. She never expected it would be sex related charges. "It's sad because that's part of the reason why I brought my kids to the country so they didn't have to deal with things like that. That's the stuff you're supposed to find in the big city."

According to court documents the victim in this case is a relative of Gould's. Many of the details of this case are still unclear because some of the documents remain sealed until a co-defendant appears in court. It's not clear what charges that co-defendant faces.
