Pres. Clinton Speaks In SD

A presidential visit drew hundreds to Rapid City's Stevens High School Saturday.

President Bill Clinton told South Dakotans not to count his wife out of the race. He said, "Who would be the best president to turn the economy around and to get out of Iraq and to restore our standing in the world?"

The former president said Hillary is best suited to do all of those things. He sold South Dakotans on several issues, including Hillary's plan to reform education, get out of the Iraq war, and lower energy prices.

"In these rural states, very often the place where it makes the economical sense to put the windmills up, there are no transmission connectors. If you vote for her, you will get that. We'll have more solar energy, more wind energy than we can ever dream."

After making his speech in western South Dakota, President Clinton boarded a plane to Billings, MT for another event. Montana shares it's presidential primary with South Dakota -- June 3rd.

South Dakota staffers for Sen. Barack Obama tell KSFY that the Democratic hopeful is planning a trip to the Rushmore State, as well. However, specifics have not been released.
