High gas prices may have triggered a crime in Yankton.

By Brian Allen

I'm going to tell you about an unusual theft from a Yankton cemetery but first: authorities in Mitchell say last month's diesel spill appears to be an act of environmental vandalism.

The 15-hundred gallon spill happened at "Mitchell Concrete" in the 700 block of North Edmunds.

Mitchell Crimestoppers is now offering a 250 dollar reward for information leading to the conviction of whoever did this.

You can contact them at 605-996-1700.

The cost of the spill and clean up is now at 58-hundred dollars.

High gas prices may be to blame for an unusual theft monday afternoon at the Yankton Municipal Cemetery: someone stole gas from a tank at the cemetary. No word on how many gallons the thief got away with.
