Sioux Falls police are reminding cyclists to wear helmets following a motorcycle crash late Saturday night.

A 30 year old Sioux Falls man was traveling west on 12th St. just before midnight when he lost control and crashed west of the I-29 overpass.

Police at the scene said the man was speeding in front of a group of friends when he lost control and wrecked his bike. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered head injures. Paramedics rushed him to Sanford Hospital and they later determined the injuries were not life threatening.

Officer T.J. olsen says a helmet would have made a difference.

"Especially with speed possibly a contributing factor, certainly a helmet is obviously going to help," Olsen says.

Olsen says alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
