Yankton Woman Killed in Car-Pedestrian Accident

By Associated Press

Yankton County authorities say a 49-year-old woman was killed Monday night after a car-pedestrian accident on Highway 50 on the northwest edge of Yankton.  Sheriff Dave Hunhoff identified the victim as Tamara Van Hoozen.  He says Van Hoozen, of rural Yankton, apparently was walking on the driving lane of the highway when she was hit by a car driven by a 17-year-boy, also from rural Yankton.

The accident was reported shortly after 10 p.m. Van Hoozen was taken to a Yankton hospital, where she died of her injuries.
