Sex Offender in Court Today

By Leslie Rupiper

41 year old Todd Brim of Sioux Falls is accused of raping at least 5 boys, and police say there could be even more victims. Brim has already done time behind bars for sexually assaulting boys, and his face is on the South Dakota Sex Offender Registry. Police arrested Brim Wednesday evening after they say victims came forward accusing him of new crimes.

Police say one of Todd Brim's alleged victims told his mother that Brim had been sexually abusing him. Investigators now believe that boy, his brother along with three other boys, are all victims. At least some live near Brim's home at 300 North Franklin Avenue in Sioux Falls. Four of the boys are now 16, one is 12. Police think the abuse started about 4 years ago, and happened as recently as this past weekend.

Heather Jensen lives two doors down from the suspect. She says, "I've talked to him before, we go down there, we don't hang out with him, but we're neighbors." You might be wondering why boys in the neighborhood would want to spend time with a man who was twice their age. Police say it's very possible he was luring them with gifts and then grooming them to become his victims.

Officer Loren McManus says, "He would take them out to dinner, he would take them to the pool, I mean things that I think most of us would stereotypically think that somebody is trying to groom children would do to gain their confidence and trust."

Heather says she'd seen Brim with young boys, but was still shocked by his arrest. She says, "They'd go over to the house and hang out. I guess I just heard rumors."

Todd Brim is charged with 3 counts of 1st Degree Rape and 3 counts of counts of 2nd Degree Rape. He's being held in the Minnehaha County Jail on $500,000 cash bond. Police think Brim might have more victims. They've set up a number for people to call if you have any information. It's (605) 367-7234.

My heart goes out to the poor boys who he's abused. My heart also goes out to the man who ownes the house that Todd was renting a room from. The man still lives in this house and this is making eveyone who lives there look like a monster that todd is.

This story is so sad. This man always seemed very friendly and nice when I knew him. My heart go out to the families of the young boys he corrupted. I used to be very close to one of the poor families. I hope everyone can put these boys in their thoughts and prayers.

He has always been a very likeable person by kids and adults. Kids have always flocked to him. Which makes him more dangerous to those young boys.
