Hyperion Gets Approval

By KSFY News

Just before midnight last night, the final votes were counted in Union County.  Voters were deciding if a zoning change would be approved to allow a Texas company to go forward with plans for a 10 billion dollar oil refinery.

Voters said 'Yes" by a margin of more than a thousand votes.  People on all sides of this divisive issue say it was a tough decision.  Union County Commission Chairman, Doyle Karpen, says, "environmentally, people have concerns, and at the same time economically, if everything works out the way they say it will, it will be fantastic for the area, the county, the region, the whole state."

But the battle over the proposed refinery is not over.  Ed Cable, with the opposition group Save Union County, says, "The next battle is already mapped out... we know exactly the thing they have to do, and we know all the parts that we can resist, delay, or beat them on."

The election results are expected to be made official tomorrow.

It's about time someplace in the U.S. decided to grow some B*LLS and press for real change, and not the typical stuff out of washington.

Union County,S.D.residents have spoken, by voting in favor of a zoning change that could allow a refinery in their county. This should send a clear and convincing message to the U.S. Congress. Now, congressmen do your duty and do your job and stop throwing up road blocks so that America can move towards energy independence.

There is a limit... The EPA regulates everything to a sickening extent.

Of course there will be limits. This isn't China. The tree huggers who are against this are in it for the money not for their personal beliefs.
