Walleye Restriction Lifted For Lake Francis Case (AP)

By Associated Press

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Walleye anglers on Lake Sharpe and Lake Francis Case will get a little slack on minimum lengths the next couple of months.

The walleye and sauger minimum length limit of 15 inches for those lakes is not in effect for the months of July and August. There's still a four fish daily limit, and anglers can keep no more than one fish of 20 inches or longer.

Game, Fish and Parks Conservation Officer Josh Carr says fish from the 2005 year class will begin to pass the 15-inch minimum length during 2008.

But he says people will be able to make the choice to keep some walleye that don't quite reach 15 inches.

Carr says letting anglers harvest smaller fish during a time of year when harvest is generally low will not hurt the walleye population.
