4th DUI in 2 Weeks

Troopers stop cars in Moody County at sobriety checkpoint.

By Associated Press

A man arrested four times in less than two weeks on suspicion of drunken driving has bonded out of a Nebraska jail.

Otoe County Jail officials said Robert Hood of Caldwell, Texas, was released Tuesday morning after he posted $200, or 10 percent of the $2,000 bail.  Deb Collins of the Nebraska State Patrol says the 44-year-old was pulled over July 13 for speeding and found to be intoxicated.

Hood faces charges of speeding and driving under the influence.  Collins says records show this was Hood's fourth charge since the beginning of July.

He was arrested on July 4 in Mitchell, S.D., July 7 in Deadwood, S.D., and again on July 8 in Platte County, Wyoming.

Yep. I guess he will finally get justice when he kills one our kids. People get more time for much less offenses.

I hope KSFY does an update on this. When does he go to court? This is one person that needs to be taken off the roads. He should at least put himself in treatment, lord knows the courts wont.

This fool will kill someone before the courts will take him off the roads just wait and see. They know he's been caught four times but the wheels of justice for us poor souls on the road with this trash turn way too slow.

Who knows where this guy even is now. He has to have a huge drinking problem. He will more than likely kill someone before he ever sees a day in jail. I would like to know where this idiot is.

Wednesday, Jul 16 at 2:57 PM I know wrote ...

The problem is that prior arrests can't be used to aggravate a DUI charge into a more serious level, only prior convictions do. At best it'll take 6 months to get him convicted of the first arrest in Mitchell. He's got a lot more time to terrorize the roads until then.

These are the kind of people we need off our streets not the guy that goes out with his wife and has one drink. The DUI laws need to change and convict and sentance properly the repeat offenders and not let them off with a simple dont drink and take these classes and it will be ok.

Who does one interview with the questions, Why is this guy not in jail? Who posted a puny little bond for a guy like this? How did you get your job? Someone should be renmoved from office that has allowed this guy to be out on the streets.

this man more than likely suffers from a disiease called alcoholism. he can't make a conscious decision and places himself behind the wheel of a car, thus endangering anyone in his path. time to admit he has a disease, and seek treatment. jail is not an answer to this problem. he needs much more .

My brother was sentanced to 190 days in county for a 2nd DWI. There's something wrong with our judicial system when you get out on a $200 bail to drink and drive again until someone dies?

Hey JDR, Treatment is a complete joke unless he seeks it out. Meanwhile lock his ass up and keep the rest of us safe..I sure wish they would have done that to my sister, she'd still be alive if they would have..

Thursday, Jul 17 at 3:27 PM Anonymous wrote ...

I don't care what he suffers from, just get this fool off the roads. He needs to get treatment without driving, period.

Thursday, Jul 17 at 4:04 PM To JDR wrote ...

Jail is not meant to be an answer to the problem of alcoholism. It is however a reasonable punishment society places on it's citizens to ensure the safety of the general motoring public. To the other poster who basically thinks repeat offenders are the problem and not social drinkers... EVERY convicted repeat offender started as a social drinker and they all had to get the first arrest out of the way before enjoying the REPEAT OFFENDER status.

Thursday, Jul 17 at 9:27 PM Reguardless... wrote ...

Reguardless of what he suffers from he needs a lot of help. I don't think he is going to get the help he needs by drinking and driving and killing someone. That someone could be any of our parents, sisters, brothers, friends, and even children. It scares me to know I share the road with someone so careless. I hope are laws change and make more strict punishments for people like this man. I for one do not have any respect for people who act so reckless and careless. I get its a disease but come o

I do not understand how someone is even allowed bail on their 4th DUI in 2 weeks! I just pray that he doesn't kill someone before he is stopped, helped or whatever. I can only imagine the lawsuits that would fly if he does seriously hurt someone and was released 4 times! I agree that he probably has a disease, but that doesn't give him the right to endanger everyone on the roads around him! Where are his family & friends? It seems someone should be trying to get him some help.

Yo JE you need some hooked on phonics bro. You have the typing/spelling skills of a 6 year old. Anywho sounds like this guy was on one hell of a party across the state. We should just ban him from the state of SD so we do not have to spend our tax dollars prosecuting this drunk. Show him the nebraska state line and get him out of SD.
