A Sioux Falls man is in custody, accused of killing his sister. Police arrested 26 year old Michael Jordan Aadland, after his 19-year-old sister died from injuries she suffered during a confrontation early Sunday morning. Aadland is now charged with 1st and 2nd degree manslaughter.

Michael Aadland was originally arrested for aggravated assault early sunday morning at 4204 S Valhalla Boulevard, after he allegedly threw a bottle at his sister's head. Now that she's dead, the family is mourning the loss of two of it's own.

Sioux Falls police arrested Michael Aadland in front of his family at his apartment on N Summit Avenue Friday evening.

Aadland's wife and sister refused to go on camera but told KSFY that they are upset with the arrest because they don't believe Aadland ever meant to kill his sister. They say he was drunk early Sunday morning, but they say they don't think the beer bottle was the only thing that caused her injuries.

According to Aadland's family members, they thought his 19 year old sister would pull through after an emergency surgery at Sanford hospital on Sunday, but her brain began to swell on Tuesday and another surgery couldn't help her. Now, as the family gathers at the apartment on north summit, they're trying to come to grips with a death and prepare for the aftermath of an arrest.

Michael Aadland is being held at the Minnehaha county jail on a $100,000 bond.
