Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin Announces Pregnancy

South Dakota U.S. Representative Stephanie Herseth

By Associated Press

South Dakota Representative Stephanie Herseth Sandlin is expecting her first child in late December.  In an e-mail to friends and supporters, Herseth Sandlin and husband, former Texas Rep. Max Sandlin, said they were overjoyed to share the news. She said they are looking forward to a "particularly blessed holiday."

Spokesman Russ Levsen confirmed the news, saying the pregnancy will not affect Herseth Sandlin's re-election this year. He said the late December due date works well with the congressional schedule, since the House is not expected to be in session at that time.

Herseth Sandlin, 37, wed Sandlin, a fellow Democrat, in March 2007. Sandlin has four children from a previous marriage.

Yes, it makes you a poor mother. Quit living for the world and live for your family that needs you more than you need a LCD TV and sound system. You don't own the things you own; they own you.

I think it's awesome. Congrats to both of them! The Argus had an article about Congresswomen that have given birth during their terms, both Democrat and Republican. So maybe "Miss Mom of 5" should stop worrying about working mothers and work on her spelling instead. Seriously what is the point of this hostility?

I don't stay home w/ my children...does that make me a bad mom?? She is going to be a wonderful mother. I wish people would stop being so snooty. Just because she is a career woman doesn't mean she can't raise her child...and keep dreaming Michael lol.

Get a life people. She is having a baby and all you people can say is negative things. Don't stereotype her because I am sure she will be a great mother. Who cares what she does with her life and where she lives, is it your concern? GROW UP PEOPLE

If Miss stephani wants to be a good Mom she will leave the Congress and Stay home with her baby. But I am sure there is no chance of that.
