Fifteen illnesses at Scotland's "Good Samaritan Center" are now being blamed on a cold virus.
"Good Samaritan" released the information this afternoon.

All 15 people developed some type of respiratory illness.
Tests were conducted but none of them came back positive for any known respiratory illness.

Now, "Good Samaritan" says a cold virus is to blame.

We looked into this story when we received two e-mails at youask@ksfy.com, telling us of several illnesses at Scotland's "Good Samaritan" center and claiming the illnesses were Legionnaires Disease.

Brian Allen: "Is something being investigated in Scotland? If so what?"
Dr. Lon Kightlinger: "Yes we've had a report of illnesses among residents."

State Epidemiologist, Dr. Lon Kightlinger confirmed the illnesses for KSFY, that his office was involved in watching the situation and also confirmed for us there was concern about Legionnaires Disease.

Dr. Lon Kightlinger: "Well that's one of the things that people are being tested for."

The testing was being done at Avera Sacred Heart hospital in Yankton.
All tests for Legionnaires and other known respiratory illnesses have come came back negative.

"Good Samaritan" tells KSFY the illnesses are likely the result of a cold virus; adding there have been no new cases of the illness over the last three days.

"Good Samaritan" adds all those who had been sick are either now fully recovered or recovering.

The illness itself turned out to have a life span of about 48 to 72 hours.
