Accidents like this are very sad to think about. You never think that this could happen to someone that young. I am a girl in her class and she was on my volleyball and basket ball team. SO she is more than a class mate to me. She was my friend and my best friends cousin. I feel bad for Josh. for sure it was an accident and i can feel his pain. no one should be blamed for this. When you have sinned the pay is death. but god gives you the gift of eternal life because of what jesus did for us. RIP

I am a distant relative of this family, and they are good people. This was a tragic accident, and my thoughts are with the family. Those who are looking to blame someone should be ashamed of yourselves.

Are you a parent? If so how would you feel if something as tragic as this were to happen to you and people were saying you should be punished?? Isn't the death of their daughter punishment enough. How would the son feel if his parents were locked up because he accidentally shot his sister. Doing that would only lead to more hurt and pain w/in the family. It wouldn't solve a thing. The lil girl is allready gone and locking them up won't bring her back.

How do you know that the parent's weren't there? They could've been there teaching the boy how to unload the gun. Maybe you didn't read the article but the gun ACCIDENTALLY went off while he was UNLOADING it not playing with. Before you judge and condemn make sure you know all the facts!

How the parents left access to a gun that children to get at is beyond me. Parents SHOULD be held accountable for not locking up guns and let there children play with them like toys.

How can you say blame the parents - especially at a time like this? You do not know how he got the gun. My heart goes out to the family especially the little boy.

Wednesday, Jul 30 at 8:26 AM Anonymous wrote ...

The parents shouldn't be blamed accidents happen. She could have died any number of ways it was an accident. Some people are so ignorant. My prayers are with the family, I hope you are able to eventually find piece.

To Wilma: Accidents happen and parents aren't always accountable. Maybe you should have some compassion and sympathy instead of punishment and hatred!!!! You obviously shouldn't be a parent!

Now South South Dakota is going to let 10 year olds hunt. How bright is that.
