I live in a mobile home myself. Looking at these pictures scare me. I never really think im in danger of wind unless tornadoes are involved. I hope this family can recover many things and find a new place soon.

I want to know what manufacturer built this mobile home. If the homes around it are still standing, that tells me that this manufacturer puts out non-quality homes! I hope no one was hurt because of this.

My heart goes out to those that live in mobile homes. there is absolutely no where to go in those things. House with basements sometimes aren't safe either i can't imagine haveing nowhere to go when a storm comes thru! Praying for all those who were hit by this aweful storm. May the community pull together as you clean things up and get back to normal!

I live in Aberdeen and in a mobile home, and last nights storm was the scariest one I've ever been in. My home has some skirting damage but that is it. It sounded like a freight train coming through and the power went out for about 4.5 hours. Everyone in the park I live in is fine and home damage is minimal but we also know that we are very lucky. My heart goes out to the people in Webster and the surrounding areas that managed to stay grounded during last nights storm.

To "Jean" and "Me"....you are idiots!!! I live in a "normal" home. Have you been inside a "mobile" home. Most of them are nicer than mine! Nature is very random, the fact that the other structures are standing beside it has nothing to do with the quality of the homes. Have you seen how fires in CA can completely destroy homes and leave small areas in the middle of the destruction untouched?? Please, before you add a comment, use some thought first!

Grow up and quit being so darn snotty! Some people don't have the luxury of a "REAL HOME" as you would say. Seriously, if you have nothing nice to say than keep your mouth shut. People w/ attitudes like yours don't belong on this site. Since you obviously are completely loaded why don't you offer to buy them a "REAL HOUSE"?????

Thursday, Jul 31 at 8:09 PM just me... wrote ...

Even the best of mobile homes can be ripped apart like this. It could be something so simple as the location and the way the wind was going. As for the comment on buy a real house. Thats just totally stupid....grow up.

You are really immature. Why don't you quit critisizing people and get out and do something about them living in trailors like help...

Thursday, Jul 31 at 10:39 PM Wendy wrote ...

Jean-I used to live in a trailer. It was a heck of a lot nicer than many houses I have seen. 1100 square feet. Lots of houses don't have basements either. Maybe do something about the homeless before YOU CRITICIZE people who have a perfectly acceptable home. Your ignorance is astounding!

To Kathy - I have lived in 4 mobile homes in my life!!! I know that some are of better quality than others - that is what my comment was intended for!

In my opinion, you all are very rude. None of you know the situation in why anyone lives in a mobile home. Some of them are a lot nicer than a lot of houses you can find, and yes others are not the nicest. There is no reason to knock someone down because of where they live though! Some of us cannot afford to live in a "real" home and those of us who do live in mobile homes should be happy that we have roofs over our heads! I pray for the family this happened to.

You need to find better employment so you can live in security in a stable home that isn't going to blow away when it gets a little windy! I feel compassion for the people that lost their homes or suffered damage; but take note of the tragedy, live without cable and beer night if you have to, and get into a real home.

Friday, Aug 1 at 8:21 PM small minded... wrote ...

You are obviously small minded. So im going to use very small words. C-R-U-E-L...that is what you are. You obviously live a very unhappy life. People w/ your attitude usually are so called "trailor owners" themselves. For all we know your just another one of us. So before you open your big mouth. Help these people and the rest of the trailor owners. Start an organization to help us get the money. Since ur so smart apperently you should be able to do that!! And if you can't than SHUT UR MOUTH!

how can "people to living in mobile homes" be so snotty!! I for one don't drink nor smoke, but hey, I can't help if i come from a poor family and can't afford to finish college. I so badly want to live in a mobile home. They are so much nicer and better than a "REAL HOME" as YOU put it. so as i read your comment, i believe you are sticking your nose up at me too. but guess what? We all end up in the same place in the afterlife. Be careful, we all might end up praying for you too.

to Lar, disaster can happen to anybody, disaster is blind my friend. one day you can have it all, and the next day-you can lose it all. In my eyes NOBODY is trailer trash, just humans who are all trying to make it on this earth. Jesus wasn't rich, so therefore, NOBODY is rich. people who talk trash about anybodys situation are talking way too soon!! my prayers go out to both the family who lost their home and to YOU LAR.

these people whose home has been destroyed are already going through emotional distress and all jean smith can say is "pay the extra $$ and get into a real home people", how snotty can she get? Where and how can I help?

Sunday, Aug 3 at 3:57 PM ppl... wrote ...

Some people are happy w/ trailors...they don't feel the need to buy a big expensive house they can't afford just to impress people like you. If you don't like the fact that others live in trailors tough. But keep snotty remarks to yourself. Lets hope someday nothing happens to your so called "perfect home" because I for one would not feel bad for you.

Sunday, Aug 3 at 4:54 PM Lar wrote ...

You're right. People think those who live in susbstandard housing don't have anything valauable.

Sunday, Aug 3 at 9:11 PM agree... wrote ...

I know people who live in houses think others who live in trailors are poor. Just because your home doesn't have a basement does not make you less of a person. I have a trailor and I have 2x the money as most of my friends w/ houses. And thats not because of their house payment.

Sunday, Aug 3 at 10:33 PM Lar wrote ...

People that live in trailors dont have anything valuable.

Monday, Aug 4 at 11:46 AM Anonymous wrote ...

You people are dumb. Ok who cares what kinda of home you live in a house, trailor house, camper etc. If you live in house you could be trash. If you live a trailor you could be really rich. All people spend money differently. I dont agree with giving people money just because they live in a trailor. People who live in houses can be broke too but since they live in a house they do deserve it. As for the family whos home was destroyed. I am truly sorry. I can't imagine what it would be like

Monday, Aug 4 at 5:50 PM Ignorance Kills... wrote ...

It is so ignorant for you to say that "those who live in trailor houses have nothing valuable". How would you know that! You don't think that the pictures this family lost were of any value? how about the gifts they might have received from loved ones who are now deceased? Come on... use you head when your saying things like that! Sounds to me like you are some one who dwells solely on "possesions". I bet you are person who is living life like you do to "keep up with the Jones's"

I use to live in a nice mobile home Lar and guess what? I was able to afford a lot more nice things and now i do have a lot more than you'll ever have~it's called HAPPINESS! now that i live in a regular so-called house, i miss my mobile home. how can you be so mean!!

Tuesday, Aug 5 at 10:54 PM agreed... wrote ...

I also live in a mobile home. I LOVE IT! Its nice, affordable, and best yet my kids can do WAY more than I EVER could when I was there age. Simply because we don't have a 1200.00 house payment a month. If anything is stupid its living beyond your means. Not living in a trailor. Trailors are just as nice/even nicer than some houses!

Tuesday, Aug 19 at 10:43 AM HorseGirl0240 wrote ...

I live in a 16x80 mobile home and absolutly wouldnt trade it for anything. We chose to live here because it was convenient and we would have lots of extra money to spend on the kids and animals. I live in the milbank area and we had alot of damage to our house too, but its still in one piece and guess what..the house "house" down the road has the roof blowin off. So whats that say..... My prayers to that family that lost their home!
