Senator Thune unsure whether DM&E can move forward with its expansion plans after federal loan was denied.

By Associated Press

The Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern Railroad will speed up trains on part of its system in the Huron area.

The company said it's made improvements that enhance safety and upgrade the rail corridor so trains can eventually reach a maximum speed to 40 mph through the Lake Preston and Iroquois areas.  The higher speeds will be implemented in increments of 5 mph starting at the end of the month.
