Credit Card Scam in Aberdeen

By Associated Press

Some Aberdeen residents received recorded phone messages that their debit and credit cards from the Aberdeen Federal Credit Union were suspended.

They were told to speak to the security department, but Credit Union CEO and president Doug Thompson says the calls Friday didn't come from the Credit Union.

Thompson says it's a scam meant to get people's account information.

None of my family banks at Aberdeen FCU, however one of our employees, my husband, my sons and I all got the call. The 6-diget # was 206-819. 2 of them answered and the rest went to voice mail. None of us gave any information. This is just very upsetting and we would really like to know where the calls came from. Thanks to anyone who could help....

Both my wife and I got the call on our cell phones. It asked you to "press 1 to continue" then asked you to do it again to provide more information. I don't bank there. My caller ID showed the number 206-719

This call comes from a 6 digit number, which to me was questionable so I did not answer the call. Oddly enough it did leave an automated voicemail telling me that my account had been canceled and to 'press one to transfer to security'.
