Man Charged with Having Hidden Camera in Bathroom

A Sioux Falls man has been charged with invading the privacy of his friends by using a hidden video camera to record them in his bathroom.

Nathan Scott Campbell has been indicted on two misdemeanor counts of taking pictures of women's bodies without their consent.  The 37-year-old Campbell was charged after a woman told police that he showed her a recording of her using the bathroom at his former home.

Police reports indicate there were two female victims, but a court document indicates there may be many more.  The recordings are alleged to have been made last year between February and April.

Friday afternoon KSFY talked with Campbell about the case.

He says he'll be back at the Minnehaha County Courthouse next month for his next court appearance.

 

Friday afternoon Campbell told KSFY the people involved were acquaintances, but he wouldn't go farther than that, other than to say he considered some of them good friends.

According to the court documents, Campbell told a witness he hid a web cam in a toilet paper roll that was pointed at a toilet at his former residence.

He says he's not sure what will happen as the case moves through the court system.

KSFY also asked him if there was something the public should know, beyond what's in the court papers.

"To be honest with you the whole situation, I think I was taken advantage of just as much as I may have taken advantage of anybody else," said Campbell.

 

 

 

 

If convicted of the two misdemeanors, Campbell could face up to two years in jail.
