Two Sioux Falls women were arrested last night for fighting.

According to Police Information Officer, Sam Clemens, officers responded to an apartment at 332 North Spring Avenue last night just after 10pm.  They found two women involved in a fight.  36-year-old Carla Rose Highhorse and 26-year-old Tiffany Rose Yellowcloud had started fighting in the apartment, but moved the fight outdoors.  Yellowcloud suffered a broken collarbone as a result of the altercation, and allegedly stabbed a man who tried to break up the fight.    That man received minor injuries.

Yellowcloud and Highhorse were arrested for simple assault.  Police say alcohol was involved.

People are always jumping to race everytime someone gets into trouble. I am not racist. I am just sick of the bickering...and for everyones info. As for the land comment. Yes we may live on "your land" however, it isn't really yours it belonged to your ancestors. Which was MANY years ago. And you get checks every month because of that. What perfect example of the ignorance in this state about Native Americans. Definitely don't think that EVERY crime turns out a race issue but if you refuse to recognize or are unable to see the issue here then you are an example of why there is a problem in the first place. Many Native Americans don't drink , many have jobs, many don't hurt their children (don't know why the poster brought that in) and many don't get into fights. Be fair and recognize that.

i believe the point of the story and why it made the news is the fact that a witness to the incident was stabbed while trying to break it up. i just re-read the story and it doesn't mention them being native american......

I am really surprised this story made the news. I have a terrible suspicion it was directed at making a statement about Native Americans. I certainly don't see the news reporting on other fights between women, but yet again those in charge of reporting the news here in South Dakota have chosen to report a negative story like this when there are so many other positive things going on both on the Indian Reservations and elsewhere in the state.
