Gettysburg Teen Injured in Accident

By Associated Press

A Gettysburg teenager who was hurt when his truck rammed the Lebanon Post Office was injured again in a weekend crash.

Randy Tennant was found lying in a ditch near Hoven. He was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious injuries.  The 17-year-old Tennant told authorities that another youth was driving.

Potter County Sheriff Alan McClain says the vehicle was speeding when it ran off the road and came to a stop 350 feet later. The second juvenile was located at his home and has injuries that could have been caused in a crash, but he denied being the driver.

The December crash demolished the front of Lebanon Post Office.

They really brought up a winner and I hope they are proud since there son is in Hoven giving the kids of Hoven a bad name. Hey Randy, how about you go and hang out with some people from Gettysburg. You know that is where you are suppose to go to school, well that is when you are not in a wreck

I dont know where "mommy" is going to get the $ to bail Randy out. They might have to sell one of their $20,000 vehicles, boat, or camper

Yeah... cuz it just seems SO logical that someone would want to be sent to the hospital and almost become paralyzed just for attention. What in God's name is wrong with your thought process??

I still just can't get over how you people think you can play judge and jury. Maturity must hit at a later age for all of you.

1st of all this kid is from Lebanon not Gettysburg,2nd this is the second time he's been in an accident he obviously likes the attention he gets from it or is trying to kill himself. either way he should of had his license taken away the 1st time, because he obviously has a reputation of driving dangerously...some people never learn till its too late..he needs to grow up and his parents need to take responisbilty for their kids mistakes

His mommy will bail him out of this trouble too.

Every other story I read on KSFY is about a native who committed a crime. It's a sad reality that our people have been driven to this by the dogmatic views of the United States goverment.

unless you know these kids personally from gburg.. i think you have no right talking about them!

Wednesday, Aug 27 at 8:59 PM anonymous wrote ...

first of all.. we have ask this kid a thousand times when he is gonna learn. and i don't think he ever is. this is the second vehicle he has totalled in the past 9 months. if you see the scene of the accident, you would ask yourself as well as everyone else, "wut the **** they were thinking!?!" second of all, i think they need to set the two individuals down in the same room and question them together.. third of all.. if u seen the vehicle, you would wonder how either of them actually made it.

He is 17! How is everythig the parents fault now days?? I am sure this will not go unpunished if her truely was driving...

And we natives only make up 65% of the crime going on here in south dakota. hummm. Only 1 native story and you attack it like a dog attacks its victim.

what kind of parents do we have in this world anymore. Dont this kids parents care for the well being of there own child. Just think if this kid does makes it through life what will his kids be. Like my parents have always told me is "what your parents are is what your kids will be."

What will mommy and daddy do when he kills someone? Blame them? Get the kid in line. Must be a spoiled brat.

Wednesday, Aug 27 at 8:01 AM Ed wrote ...

Maybe his parents should send him to boot camp or rehab. Get the brat off the road before he kills one of us.

Wednesday, Aug 27 at 7:32 AM Anonymous wrote ...

My bet is that the mother got a phone call on where the kid was.

I get way too much junkmail. How long has this kid been driving? The longer I live in South Dakota the more I wonder.

Tuesday, Aug 26 at 9:19 PM Anonymous wrote ...

The second kid wasn't the driver, he stayed with his buddy until the mom come got him and took him to a hospital 30 miles from the accident instead of taking him to the hospital in town less than 1/4 mile away. After all it was the tennant kid's car...who do you think would be driving?

When will this young man's parents hold him responsible? He has had no consequences for any of his actions yet- what will it take?

Tuesday, Aug 26 at 8:32 PM Anonymous wrote ...

His parents blamed the town? :-). So, I guess if that's the case maybe we all need to take a better look at our layouts of our cities and make sure we know where we are putting these tall stationary objects. These parents better wake up before they have to either visit there kid in jail or even worse..

Tuesday, Aug 26 at 6:26 PM Anonymous wrote ...

When he crashed into the post office his parent's answer was to blame the town. Why do you think the kid has problems? One of these times he is going to kill someone.

Tuesday, Aug 26 at 3:51 PM goldy wrote ...

I think this child should be under adult supervision. Why are the parents letting him have free range?

Tuesday, Aug 26 at 3:11 PM Anonymous wrote ...

so the driver just left his friend for dead.. nice friend!!

Tuesday, Aug 26 at 3:09 PM Ed wrote ...

How big of drunks are these kids? I quess the parents or the kid didn't learn from the first crash in Lebanon. Wait till his next feat. Better not kill an innocent person being stupid.

Tuesday, Aug 26 at 2:39 PM the TRUTH wrote ...

Maybe the parent(s) should finally set their kid straight and hold a tighter leash! This kid is going to be incarcerated before long. Hopefully nobody will be injured or killed by him though.

Tuesday, Aug 26 at 12:17 PM Anonymous wrote ...

This kid must really have some problems. His parents must be proud.

Tuesday, Aug 26 at 11:48 AM Jax wrote ...

Did this kid pass drivers ed?

Tuesday, Aug 26 at 11:45 AM Anonymous wrote ...

If he wasn't the driver why would he leave someone else behind? A friend would never do that, no matter who was driving.
