Sturgis Rally Numbers Down

By KSFY Staff

Attendance at the Sturgis motorcycle rally was down this year and organizers are already trying to figure out how to reverse the trend next year.

It's estimated that 445 thousand people attended this year's rally, that's 62,000 fewer people than last year.

High gas prices were blamed for the reduction.

Monday, the Sturgis rally department will hold a meeting to see what they can do to improve those numbers in 2009.

How can they guess the number of people? The crowd looked great.

Price gouging from the main street vendors isn't helping either. I hear alot of complants on the road about that. From food to motels.
