Webster To Get New Trees

By Dawn Crawley

Deanna Johnson and Douglas Carlson could not walk out of the front door.

"All I could hear was this howling and this crunching noise. Then I came back upstairs later on and when we woke up we had trees in our front door and branches in our backyard," said Deanna.

Those trees have not been replaced and that worries residents.

"To regrow the trees in this town it's going to take many many years," said Douglas.

But Webster is getting some help to keep things looking green. Governor Rounds has announced 1000 trees will be planted in Webster, Pierpont, and Waubay this spring.

"Our front yard looks bare. We lost three trees here and if they are going to have a tree program I'd like to be able to get in on it and have the trees replaced," said Deanna.

Governor Rounds will be in Day County within the next couple of weeks to plant the first tree.

OH! It would be so lovely to get some new trees. We lost 2 90 year old pines, and all but one tree in our yard! How nice a program would be...is there anymore information?!
