Victims Stories Shared

By Melissa Stee

No matter race or gender, domestic violence affects one in four women.
Thursday night a rally was held to support those victims.

Domestic violence can be shameful to talk about, but Thursday night was about supporting those survivors and remembering those who lost their lives to domestic violence.

Domestic violence can happen to friends and neighbors.

Debbie, a volunteer for The Compass Center didn't want us to use her last name, but says the rally offers help to victims from others who understand what they've gone through.

Debbie says, "Some people just don't know quite what to do. Things like this give us a chance to maybe reach somebody who necessarily wouldn't go to anybody else."

Others say every year they feel more people are becoming aware of just how many are affected.
