Olympic Medalist Billy Mills To Speak In SD

By Associated Press

Olympic gold medalist Billy Mills is the featured speaker Monday at Crazy Horse Memorial as part of the Native American Day ceremony.

Mills grew up in South Dakota and won the 10,000 meter race at
the 1964 Olympics.

His appearance tops off events that start at 10 a.m. and include Native American singers, dancers and the announcement of the Crazy Horse Educator of the Year.

A traditional blast on the mountain is also planned if the
weather cooperates, followed by a free buffalo stew lunch for all
visitors.

Admission is free but there's a suggested donation of three cans
of food per person.

Crazy Horse was a famed Lakota warrior. The memorial being
carved in his likeness honors all American Indians.
