New Degree Programs at Colleges

By Associated Press

The Board of Regents on Thursday authorized several new degree programs at three South Dakota universities.

The board created master's and doctorate degrees in nutritional sciences, a master's degree in dietetics and an undergraduate degree in biotechnology at South Dakota State University.  Also approved was a master's of science in construction management at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and a new minor in interdisciplinary sciences at the University of South Dakota.

The board says no additional state resources are being requested for the programs. In a release, the regents say the programs are in response to workforce development needs.
