2,000 Without Power Days After Blizzard

By Kent Erdahl

The blizzard is long gone, but more than 100 line workers from South Dakota and Iowa spent Sunday working to help restore power at six electric cooperatives that are still struggling with outages in western South Dakota.

An estimated 2,000 electric cooperative members have been without power since the storm hit.

The wet, heavy snow caused many line breaks and downed more than 1,700 power poles.

The six co-ops affected are based in Newell, Bison, Martin, Timber Lake, Murdo and Wall.
