No Recount in SD District 22 Senate Race

One of the five South Dakota legislative races within the allowable recount margin has been settled.

Democratic Rep. Dale Hargens of Miller lost the District 22 Senate contest by 186 votes to Republican Sen. Tom Hansen of Huron.

Hargens said this week there's no reason for taxpayers to pay for a recount that probably won't change the outcome of the Nov. 4 election.

Candidates eligible to ask for recounts have until 5 p.m. Monday to file a request with their county auditor.

Hargens is the current minority leader in the House but couldn't run again because of term limits so he ran for the Senate.

good he would lose anyway why waste the money. Dale your negative ads caught up with you and they should check into your female counter partner who went to nursing homes and filled out absentee ballots for people there. She is going to be the worst possible person 22 can have represent them. she sure didn't win on her knowledge of issues she won because of knowing so many people from being a volunteer full time. As in the campaign Burg will tell her what to do cause she has no clue. Bad choice
