Landlord Arrested For Assault

By KSFY Staff

A Sioux Falls landlord appears to have taken an eviction dispute into his own hands, and as of Sunday night he was behind bars after allegedly trying to kick in the door of his tenants while armed with a shotgun.

It happened at a duplex located at 501 North Franklin Avenue in central Sioux Falls just before 2 a.m Sunday morning.

Russell Dean Olson is being held on two counts of aggravated assault after he reportedly made threats against two tenants with that shotgun.

The SWAT team was called in to make the arrest, because after the alleged threat, Olson went back into his apartment next door and officers couldn't contact him.

The situation did end peacefully, with no injuries. The tenants say they've had an ongoing dispute with their landlord over being evicted.
