Wife Killed, Husband Accused

onida death murder

By Dawn Crawley

Court records show at least one case of domestic violence involving the man accused of shooting his wife early this morning in Onida.  Sully county authorities believe this was to be a case of murder, attempted suicide.

The woman killed has been identified as 34 year old Sharon Kleinsasser. Investigators say the gunman is her husband, 38 year old Herman Kleinsasser, Jr. He was taken to the Rapid City hospital in critical condition.

Toys still lay in the yard that is now marked with yellow tape.

Sharon Kleinsasser was the mother of six. Her husband, Herman Kleinsasser, had a prior record of domestic violence. He was arrested for one count in 2006 and served time in jail. Now authorities say Herman shot and killed Sharon and then attempted to kill himself.

Neighbors are very emotional and did not want to appear on camera.  They say that their hearts go out to the family.

Officials continue to investigate the scene on the corner of Eighth and Bayberry where a mother, a friend, and a neighbor was fatally shot.

What a sick freak, how could he take the mother away from those sweet 6 children who now have to live their whole 100 years of life without a mother or father! Dont kill this guy, thats what he wants. Make him sit life in prison without a possibility of parole... the inmates there will take care of him
