Federal grand jurors in Pierre have indicted a 21-year-old Little Eagle woman on charges stemming from the death of a child who was younger than 7 years old.

Davida Red Bear pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter and child abuse.

If convicted, the maximum punishment is 15 years in custody and a fine.

According to the indictment, Red Bear killed the child Aug. 11 in Corson County on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation by laying on him.
