The mayor of Gregory has resigned. The city council accepted Wade Juracek's resignation and, according to the city's website appointed council president Dan DeSmet to fill out the remaining 14 months of his term.

WOW! Are you seriously going to condem his wife?? Do you think she would truly stand by and LET something like this happen to her whole family had she known the extent of his addiction? Leave her alone. This could happen anyone else just as easy! To the person who wants an apology maybe he is not able to apologize until legal proceedings are done? What he did was terribly wrong but don't pick on his poor family.

Yes I know his wife is a PA and yes she did know!!! No, she should be in jail for what she knew but for not getting him the help he needed before it got to this.I thank God I don't have to walk in his shoes because he's got alot of answering to do to all the people of Gregory who's trust he violated. He has yet to apologize to the community, he has to the city counsel but there need to be a formal apology in the newspaper to the whole community. We also need to pray for him and his family.

And you know the wife is a PA and you know the wife knew, and you think she should be in jail for what she knew? Maybe you should check your facts - maybe everything you think you know about the whole situation is much less than the truth. Another thought - hope you never have to walk in his shoes - you might just see things a little differently.

I have to agree with the "Forner Gregonite", This man when into my parents home under false pretenses. What really upsets me is our homes are to be a Safe Haven and our castle, not to be invaded by someone who has a problem, he invaded their privacy and they were just in shock as when he didn't find what he wanted in teh bathroom he proceded to go through their kitchen His wife is a PA and she knew this, she should be in jail next to him for not getting him the help needed, isn't that a drs. jo

Yeah he is a nice guy and drugs probably got ahold of him and he couln't control it. But if it was you or I the common man we would already be in jail not seeing the light of day. But in this county it's who you are that's gets you farther not what you did. I would have been in prison but this man will be lucky to even see the inside of a cell. What hypocrites!!

How many of you are smokers and drinkers that can't quit that are judging this guy? Give him a chance to get help. You all act so high and mighty. Look in the mirror.

Coming from a father who is an addict...addiction makes oyu do things you never thought possible. This man needs support and rehab...the drugs made him do what he did...if he was in his right mind I doubt he would put his reputation on the line like he has.

what difference did it make whether he was stealing from the elderly, i would say pretty crappy thing to do to anyone no matter what the age obviously they were prescribed pain meds for a reason no matter the age, pain doesnt know a number, but im also with the majority and that is the guy has a problem, its all you hypocrits prolly sittin there on your fifth glass of wine judging a man for doing the right thing an stepping down in acknowledgement of his wrong doing, shame on you!!!

Yeah, stealing happens too! Why dont we just let out all the prisoners who have stolen anything and the drug addicts so they can hurt themselves or worse someone else. Give me a break.

He needs professional help to kick his addiction. I'm all for "second chances".

But when he is stealing from the elderly!!! HELLO WAKE UP!!! An addiction is one thing but stealing and going into people's houses as the mayor saying you need to use the restroom and then not using it and stealing mainly targeting the elderly I don't think so!!!! Throw him in Prison for his felonies where he belongs!!!
