More Details Revealed In Huron Murder

Huron Police outside Earl's Alignment at 176 Kansas Ave SE, where officers detained 42-year-old Shannon Flowers for questioning. Flowers was later arrested for first-degree murder.

We now know that 20 year old Brittney Chua was pregnant when her body was found in a Huron dumping site this past weekend. Authorities say 42 year old Shannon Flowers is responsible for her death. Police the two were having an intimate affair and that both were married at the time.

Brittney Chua was four to five months pregnant when she was found dead Saturday. Authorities say Shannon Flowers hit her in the head with a pipe continuously and then covered her with branches and debris. A friend of Flowers tipped off the police Beadle County State's Attorney Michael Moore says, "They immediately put survelliance on Mr. Flowers and followed him. He went to work at Earl's Alignment that morning and they were watching him the entire time."

Investigators say then Flowers climbed on a ladder, put a rope around his neck and said he was going to commit suicide. Detectives talked him out of it and Flowers was arrested without incident. Moore says, "He talked to the Huron Police detective via phone and stated that he had killed Chua. Shannon Flowers also told the detective that it was premeditated."

Flowers heads to court tomorrow. Chua's death is the second murder in Huron in the past week. Huron resident Sarah Klich says, "It's quite disturbing for the size of our town. We don't see that many heinous crimes." People living in Huron hope they don't have any more and are glad police are catching the people they believe are responsible. Authorities do not know whether the baby belonged to Flowers. They are waiting for tests to return from a forensics lab.

He should have just hung himself it would have been less painful than what they'll do to him in the PEN. We dont like baby killers around here.

I can't believe you people, sure what they did was wrong, but that doesnt give him the right to murder her. I knew Brittney, She wasn't a bad person. People make mistakes!

I think everyone need to keep in mind all the families that are suffering from what has happened here! There are Mom's, Dad's, Grandparents, Friends and most importantly CHILDREN left behind from this tragity that need support and kind words, not what these 2 did or did not do!

42 year old married man sleeping with 20 year old married woman is not going to have a happy ending. Maybe not murder, but not smart. What were they even thinking.

Man this guy is a real loser. I feel for his family and hers. For him they should of went in and got him after he jumped from the ladder. He doesn't deserve to breathe. Now we get to pay his way and he has admitted to all of it. Death penalty should be used here.

In my opinion, he deserves death by lethal injection. They shouldnt have interfered with him hanging himself, I wouldn't have. I feel for his family, his wife, and kids involved. I really do how horrible and selfish of this man to do this to HIS FAMILY and Britney's family. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. I know you wont get the death penalty because we live in SDakota, but I hope those inmates rape you over and over before beating you down with some homemade contraband!cuz they will

What was a 20 year-old doing with a 42 year-old married man? And from my few observations of her, why didn't he just plead a crime of passion/temporary insanity...She seemed to be the type that could drive someone to that. Murder isn't right, but neither is blackmail, which she was holding over his head. We need to get back to the old values of the Bible...Make love to your Husband or Wife. Not anyone who shows you some extra attention when you don't feel you're getting it at home.
