Deadwood Gets 30 inches Of Snow From Blizzard

By Associated Press

Deadwood, high in South Dakota's northern Black Hills, reports 30 inches of snow from a spring blizzard that is moving across western South Dakota.

The storm stalled travel and any other activity that involves
travel. Interstate 90 remained closed from the Wyoming border to
Chamberlain. And U.S. Highway 212 is closed from the Wyoming border
to Newell.

Wind -- one gust of 90 miles an hour was reported in Perkins
County -- whipped the snow so hard that visibility was reduced to
zero at many locations.

Other snow totals include 25 inches west of Spearfish, 18 inches
near Whitewood, 13.5 inches at Lead, 12 inches in Rapid City, and
10 inches at Camp Crook and north of Box Elder.

Forecasters say the strong winds and the blowing and drifting
snow makes travel impossible but that blizzard conditions will
gradually improve as the storm system moves east.
