The storm that ripped through south dakota left a lot of water, branches in the road and caused other damage throughout the state.

As we drove through Lennox, Chancellor, Parker and other areas the storm didn't cause nearly the damage that we saw this afternoon in Springfield and the damage this storm caused called for a full day of cleanup...

"Tremendous noise and debris started hitting the house and pretty soon the windows were broke out and within a minute this all happened." And in that minute Gary Romkema saw his machine shed destroyed. "I was hoping for one more nice day so we could get this cleared up, this snow sure complicates things."

Joyce Romkema wasn't home at the time but says that the damage could have affected a lot more than just the shed. "It's kind of surprising because we always see these things happen to other people but we've been blessed.  I mean we have had, we haven't really had any tragedy's before.  I'd rather lose a machine shed than a family member."

And as a soaked Gary looks on he can't believe the support that he's received from his neighbors through this difficult time..."They came last night and helped me fix the roof.  They've been here all day today helping me get my equipment out of this shed and picking up branches and tin that's been blowing all over the country, so they've been tremendous."

Now the Romkema's say that the weather has certainly slowed down their cleanup which they say will take a couple more days... they estimate the damage at 60 to 70 thousand dollars.
